Description: SwWeek is a small free program whose sole function is to display the current calendar week number in the system tray.
A program that display the calendar week in the SystemTray.
If the mouse pointer is over the calendar week, the calendar week and the current day of the year is displayed.
Do you organize your work or personal life by week? Does it figure prominently in planning the things you do? My guess is that if you actually have an idea as to what week we’re in right now you probably will find that displaying this information on your system tray very practical.
For myself I like to set goals and deadlines by week. Also, for example, I create a folder for each week into-which I download the software that I find during that time, etc, so you can see how this program can be really useful to me. Here are more notes on this software:
- Day of the year: hover over the little week number in the system tray to get the number of the day of the year as well.
- Memory usage: just under 3 megs, which is more than I would have thought but still very low.
- Exiting the program: double-life-click on the system tray icon/number to exit.
- Installing: just unzip somewhere convenient and run. You can add a shortcut of the program to the startup folder to launch with Windows, or use a startup manager such as my favorite Starter.
The verdict: a simple program for a simple concept. I wavered before finally deciding to post this program, but finally decided to do it because despite being such a simple thing I am finding it extremely useful and was thinking that other people (especially businesspeople) will too.

The review includes all the 60,000 global IT services employees from the senior leadership team down to the person with one-year experience.

“It’s not just our view, but the industry’s view, that we have to be thoughtful of additions and drive productivity. We took a closer look at our hiring and realised that we did not need to hire more, since there were people on the bench,” Kumar said.
Bench refers to the buffer of employees not assigned to a particular project. As the company works towards improving utilisation rates while keeping a tight rein on employee additions, its bench strength would come down. At the end of the quarter ended June 2008, Wipro’s utilisation rate was 78 per cent (excluding trainees) and 74 per cent (including trainees).
“We want to raise utilisation by 1-2 per cent during the year and the bench strength would go down by a similar percentage,” Kumar said.

Many infertile couples imagine that this is the cause of their problem. If your husband ejaculates inside you, then you can be sure that no matter how much semen leaks out afterwards, enough sperm will reach the cervical mucus. This leakage of semen (which is called effluvium seminis) is not a cause of infertility. In fact, this leakage is a good sign - it means your husband is depositing his semen normally in your vagina.
Fact: Semen consists mainly of seminal fluid, secreted by the seminal vesicles and the prostate. The volume and consistency of the semen is not related to its fertility potential, which depends upon the sperm count. This can only be assessed by microscopic examination. Myth: Increasing frequency of sex and/or changing the position of my hips will help achieve pregnancy Fact: Unlike many other parts of your lives, infertility may be beyond your control. Don't blame yourself if you are not getting pregnant - it's a medical problem which often needs appropriate medical treatment. Binge drinking linked to high number of sex partners
They also found links between conduct disorder diagnosis and high numbers of sexual partners as well as between problem drinking and more partners. However, of the three, alcohol dependence had the most influence on number of sex partners. "Some participants in the study reported 50 or 100 partners, and research shows - and common sense tells you - that the more sex partners you have, the more likely you'll encounter someone with an STD. Chances also increase for unintended pregnancies and other health complications," said first author Patricia Cavazos-Rehg, Ph.D., research instructor in the Department of Psychiatry.
Of those in this study who were alcohol dependent, 45 percent reported having 10 or more sexual partners. In addition, 37 per cent of those with a conduct disorder diagnosis had at least 10 partners. The study focused specifically on the number of partners, and it defines high risk using a larger number than typically seen in the psychiatric literature.
"To my knowledge, most research in young adults has used a standard of 'up to six' sex partners when examining risk. But the average number of partners for the people in this study was 9.26, so instead of using 'six or more' partners as our standard for high risk, we increased that number to 10," Cavazos-Rehg said.
Researchers gathered data through personal interviews with 601 people between 18 and 25 years old. All were unmarried and related to alcohol-dependent individuals who participated in the national Collaborative Study on the Genetics of Alcoholism (COGA), an ongoing project involving interviews and DNA samples from more than 10,000 people.
The COGA database includes individuals from inpatient and outpatient alcohol treatment centers and their families. Families in the COGA study usually have multiple members with alcohol dependence.
"We categorized these subjects according to three levels of alcohol involvement - non-dependent, problem drinking and alcohol dependent - and demonstrated how a stepwise increase from non-dependence to problematic alcohol use to alcohol dependence is associated with a higher number of sexual partners," Cavazos-Rehg said.
"We found that 22 percent of the non-dependent people had 10 or more partners, compared to 31 per cent of problem drinkers and 45 percent of those who were alcohol dependent. We also found a risk for a high number of sexual partners among those with conduct disorder, independent of their level of alcohol involvement. And those with both alcohol dependence and conduct disorder were at greatest risk of having a high number of sex partners," she added.
She suggests when young people are treated for alcohol problems - from inpatient treatment for alcohol dependence to emergency care following an alcohol-related car accident- it might be a good idea to screen them for STDs or HIV infection and to discuss safe sex practices. Personnel at STD clinics also might want to ask patients about their alcohol use and provide referrals to alcohol-related treatment centers.
"Perhaps clinicians can work together to treat both problems. A better understanding of alcohol dependence and conduct disorder could become part of a comprehensive strategy for reducing the transmission of STDs and unintended pregnancies," she said.
The study is published in the December issue of the journal Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research.
Sex really seems to get better as you age: Study
Washington, July 9 (IANS) Age is no bar to good sex, says a study of the increasing numbers of sexually active 70-year-olds, both men and women.
Increasing number of such women reported having greater satisfaction, more women experienced orgasm during sex and fewer reported never having had one, according to the study.
Knowledge about sexual behaviour in 70-year-olds is scanty, with even less being known about 'normal' sexual behaviour in the 70s' group.
Nils Beckman and colleagues from the University of Gothenburg in Sweden studied attitudes to sex among four representative samples of 70-year-olds in the country, whom they interviewed over a 30-year period.
Over 1,500 people were interviewed about aspects of their sex lives including sexual dysfunctions, marital satisfaction and sexual activity.
The authors found that over the 30-year period, the number of 70-year-olds of both sexes reported having more sex.
The data included married men who saw numbers rise from 52 percent to 98 percent, married women from 38 percent to 56 percent, unmarried men from 30 percent to 54 percent and unmarried women from 0.8 percent to 12 percent.
The authors also noted that the number of men reporting erectile dysfunction decreased, whereas the proportion reporting ejaculation dysfunction increased, but the proportion reporting premature ejaculation did not change.
Interestingly, both men and women blame men when sexual intercourse stops between them. This finding replicates the results of other studies in the 1950s and in 2005-06.
'Our study... shows that most elderly people consider sexual activity and associated feelings a natural part of later life,' the researchers concluded.

So, before you get into involved with a sex maniac, here are a few cues to help you know if you are clinging onto a sex addict or a nymphomaniac. However, remember that these are just cues and not a yardstick to make or mar your relationship.

If his browser history reveals out and out porn sites in chronological order and his mail box is filled with invitations from adult dating sites ...you have all the reasons to watch out for.

If even the prospects of getting into legal trouble fail to stop him from exercising his sexual prowess, you should be aware that you are living with an addict!

LONDON : If critics are to be believed, the end of the universe will begin coming Wednesday when a Welsh miner's son launches the world's biggest scientific experiment to know how the universe was born.
The well-known Welshman physicist, Lyn Evans, dubbed Evans the Atom, will this week switch on a giant particle accelerator designed to unlock the secrets of the Big Bang.
On Wednesday, Evans will fire up the Large Hadron Collider, a 17-mile-long doughnut-shaped tunnel that will smash sub-atomic particles together at nearly the speed of light.
Built by the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN), the collider lies beneath the French-Swiss border, near the institution's headquarters in Geneva, at depths ranging from 170 feet to 600 feet.
The aim of the 4.4 billion-pound (over $7.7 billion) experiment is to recreate the conditions that existed a fraction of a second after the Big Bang - the birth of the universe - and provide vital clues to the building blocks of life.
It will track the spray of particles thrown out by collisions in a search for the elusive Higgs Boson, a theoretical entity that supposedly lends weight, or mass, to the elementary particles. So important is this mysterious substance that it has been called the "God Particle".
Scientists also hope to shed some light on the invisible material that exists between particles - dubbed "dark matter" as no one knows what it really is - which make up most of the universe.
But a handful of scientists believe that the experiment could create a shower of unstable black holes that could "eat" the planet from within, and they are launching last-ditch efforts to halt it in the courts.
One of them, Otto Rossler, a retired German chemist, said he feared the experiment may create a devastating quasar - a mass of energy fuelled by black holes - inside the earth. Jets emanating from it would grow and catastrophes such as earthquakes and tsunamis would occur at the points they emerged from the earth.
"The weather will change completely, wiping out life, and very soon the whole planet will be eaten in a magnificent scenario - if you could watch it from the moon. A Biblical Armageddon. Even cloud and fire will form, as it says in the Bible."
He said that attempts were still being made in the European Court of Human Rights to halt the experiment on the grounds that it violated the right to life. The court has, however, already rejected calls for a temporary delay in the project.

Food for thought : Intellectual activities make people eat more than when just resting, according to a study that sheds new light on brain food.
This finding might also help explain the obesity epidemic of an increasingly sedentary society in which people still have to think now and then, LiveScience.com reported.
Researchers split 14 university student volunteers into three groups for a 45-minute session of either relaxing in a sitting position, reading and summarizing a text, or completing a series of memory, attention, and vigilance tests on the computer.
The scientists had determined beforehand that the thinking sessions consumed onlythree calories more than resting. After the sessions, the participants were invited to eat as much as they pleased.
Though the study involved a very small number of participants, the results were stark. The students who had done the computer tests downed 253 more calories, or 29.4% more than the couch potatoes. Those who had summarized a text consumed 203 more calories than the resting group.
Blood samples taken before, during, and after revealed that intellectual work causes much bigger fluctuations in glucose levels than rest periods, perhaps owing to the stress of thinking.The researchers figure the body reacts to these fluctuations by demanding food to restore glucose, a sugar that is the brain's fuel. Glucose is converted by the body from carbohydrates and is supplied to the brain via the bloodstream.
The brain cannot make glucose and so needs a constant supply. Brain cells need twice as much energy as other cells in the body.
Without exercise to balance the added intake, however, such "brain food" is probably not smart. Various studies in animals have shown that consuming fewer calories overall leads to sharper brains and longer life , and most researchers agree that the findings apply, in general, to humans. And, of course, eating more can make you fat.
"Caloric overcompensation following intellectual work, combined with the fact that we are less physically active when doing intellectual tasks, could contribute to the obesity epidemic currently observed in industrialized countries," said lead researcher
Jean-Philippe Chaput at Laval University in Quebec City, Canada.
"This is a factor that should not be ignored, considering that more and more people hold jobs of an intellectual nature," the researcher concluded.

NEW DELHI: So you thought the Indian male was turning a new leaf? No such luck, ladies. The world may be toasting the metrosexual man; in India they still prefer to stick to their traditional role of the family breadwinner.
Almost 96% want to have nothing to do with household chores or bringing up baby. Their excuse? Professional commitments leave them with no time to wash the dishes or change diapers.
These findings came up in a recent study by ASSOCHAM, which looked at the changing socio-economic equation in urban families. The survey clearly shows that though the number of working women has gone up over the years, their role at home hasn't really changed.
Household duties still remain primarily the woman's responsibility. Many strike a balance by sending their children to creches or tuition centres. This has put pressure on the family budget as well.
Nearly 82% couples surveyed said their spending on tuition classes and play schools has gone up considerably. In 83% cases, the mother ended up helping the children with their school projects and in 79% cases, she chipped in with their reading as well.
While some fathers (24%) said they got involved with their kids' homework, they did so only when their assistance was sought.
The study also showed that children do better in school and are more likely to participate in extra-curricular activities if their fathers are more hands-on. Of course, the story is different for single parents. Almost 46% single fathers said they take out time for their children’s activities and school work.
The study was carried out among 4,700 working parents across the four metros and cities such as Lucknow, Chandigarh, Pune, Bangalore, Ahemdabad, Udaipur, Shimla, Dehradun, Indore, Patna, and Kochi.

What would you attribute your success to?
I think hard work is the only key to success. I keep myself happy in every situation. The biggest quality is that you should always keep in mind that ‘I can be wrong’. Just give your best shot knowing this well. God has been kind to me. I have not changed over the years and I have got a lovely family so that has contributed to my success.

Yes I am a very childlike person. I enjoy every small pleasure. I like getting gifts from everyone. Even if I play a small game like marbles I like to win in those games and that really makes me happy.
So tell us about some memorable incidents from your childhood days
I remember once my friends were suspended because we did some mischief. I was absent that day so I was spared. These guys hated me for it. But we all spoke to the principal and sorted it out. After that we became friendly with the principal. Then the four of them started telling him about my pranks and I was suspended.
What was your first pay?
I got Rs 50 for Gulam Ali Saab’s show. It was in Sriram Auditorium. We went to see Taj Mahal with that money by train.
What gives you your biggest high?
When I get my shot right - whether it is a film or a show. If I shock my director or cameraman with my performance, I can live with it for the next 20 days. It can’t get better than that.
Who is the real SRK - husband, actor or father?
I do not know myself. I can keep acting the whole day. But yes at home I am a father and a husband and these are real emotions. I really can’t say which is the real me
You do a lot of charity as well
I do not like to talk about it. Nanvati people were very sweet when named the cancer aid ward for children which I opened after my mother. Last year I could not do anything but I want to start one for adults as well this year. My dream is to open a fully advanced hospital

Salman made the offer while visiting Abhishek during a shoot at Mehboob Studios last week. A source informed, “Salman came to stage no 4 at Mehboob Studios and inquired about Abhishek’s whereabouts. When a production guy showed him Abhishek’s vanity van, without hesitation Salman immediately proceeded towards his van. Of course, Abhishek was quite surprised on seeing Salman in his van but said nothing. It was Salman who initiated the conversation by asking about Abhishek’s forthcoming films. That got Abhishek talking. Eventually they started chatting and discussed general topics. Salman also made it a point to ask about Amitabh Bachchan and their recent Unforgettable Tour.”

Especially the Nana incident on the sets of Horn Ok Please, after which the actress has been inundated with film offers, despite the 'unprofessional' image it got her.
"Incidentally, after that episode I have been getting a lot of offers. In fact, after that the number of offers has actually doubled up for some strange reason," says Tanushree gleefully. But as they say, once bitten twice shy, the actress has been taking it real slow this time around. "I have turned down many an offer that has come my way. That's because I have suddenly caught a phobia for all these new people. If today I have to sign a movie I would definitely do it with an acclaimed director, producer or an actor. Because, when even after working so hard such things happen, I just feel I'd rather be a glorified wall flower in a big movie and work peacefully than work with small-time directors," says she. But the actress agrees that the offers do signal something positive. "The industry did support me in that way. I thought that people might take calls based on other people's decisions but the truth is that there are people who have worked me before and, thankfully, they did not pay heed to these rumours. I signed an offer right after a week after that incident!" she reveals.
Surely Tanu has moved on to better things and says that she has become stronger thanks to the negative phase. "I am looking at better things now. I have stopped thinking what people say about me. You care till a time you are worried, when you are not doing anything…and for the first time someone calls you a villain, you feel bad. You try hard too hard to prove that you are not like that. But it happens again and again and at a point you get immune. Now it does not matter to me," she says, matter-of-factly.
Though she does admit that she had veered away from films a bit due to personal reasons. "I may have become lax in between but I had my reasons for it. There were a lot of things happening in my personal life and I decided to give those the priority. Now my focus is back on my career," signs off the Bong actress.

Kate Moss named 'Sexiest Lingerie Model Of All Time'
London, Aug 30: Kate Moss is the 'sexiest lingerie model of all time', according to a new web poll.The 34-year-old stunner piped singer Kylie Minogue, 40, to claim the crown of the top Agent Provocateur model of all time.
Third place in the poll was taken by Dita Von Teese, 35, who was recently voted the world's sexiest Wonderbra babe.
Explaining Moss' victory, the survey stated: "In the four films starring Kate, we are given dream sequences that invite us to imagine how we might fulfil her desires."
"The dreams are beautifully crafted fantasies, each with an eerie atmosphere that brings us into a serene la-la land where we feel free to imagine pleasing Kate," The Daily Star quoted the statement, as adding.
In fourth spot is model Alice Dellal, 20 - who will soon be seen in a new photoshoot and film promo for the lingerie firm.
Alice is followed by Lily Cole, 20, who caught the eye of those surveyed by recently walking down a catwalk with other Agent Provocateur models carrying whips and chains.
Sixth spot is taken by Catherine Bailey, 46, the firm's oldest model.
Model Daisy Lowe, 19, actress Maggie Gyllenhaal, 30, Aussie Tiah Eckhardt and French fancy Vahina Giocante, 27, rounded off the top 10 list.

Physical Causes of Frigidity
A lack or absence of sexual fantasies and desire for sexual activity for some period of time is also referred to as hypoactive sexual desire disorder. It must cause significant distress or interpersonal difficulties and is not better accounted for by another mental disorder (i.e. depression), a drug (legal or illegal), or some other medical condition. After 38 years of marriage my husband died and there was one good side of it. At last I was free from sex! Hurrah! My husband was right in saying that I was frigid and I had no sex drive. Then, to my horrified surprise, my libido suddenly sprang in the three years later from nowhere. It was a cruel twist as now I was deprived of a sexual partner and it was obvious that I wasn’t frigid after all! After all those married years of supposing my libido dead to discover it most certainly wasn’t thoroughly shocked me. My sexual yearnings had simply lapsed because my husband. Despite having all the physical attributes, he never discovered how to be a lover. To a man’s bewilderment, the more a man tries to push his wife to be better in bed, the colder she is likely to get. With his own needs screaming inside him, a man can be expected to start emphasizing sex, and yet this usually sets off alarm bells within a woman. Despite the partner’s best intentions, she could soon end up feeling devastated, imagining he wanted her simply because he wanted someone to sleep with! The actual truth is that the most common reason for female frigidity is that their partners are not the great lovers they imagine themselves to be. Just as an egg cannot burst into life unless it is kept warm, and plants can’t flower until right conditions, so can’t a normal woman reach the pinnacle of sexual passion if she doesn’t feel loved, valued, secure, relaxed and physically refreshed. With men, various medical problems, psychiatric problems (such as mood disorders), or increased amounts of prolactine are seen to be causes of a low sexual desire. Other hormones are believed to be involved as well. But additional factors such as emotional problems, relationship problems or stress are believed to be possible causes of reduced sexual desire in women. Nymphomania On the other hand a high level of sex drive in often referred to as Nymphomania. Calling someone a nymphomaniac or accusing them of nymphomania isn't something that can be defined. Nymphomania is a layperson's term used to label women, or a nympho, whose sex drive or sexual activity is subjectively too high. The term "nymphomania," is not scientifically meaningful simply as there are no specific criteria that would define a woman as a nymphomaniac. Basically there isn't a way to determine how much sexual desire or activity is too much or more than normal. The clinical condition that includes the concept of high sexual drive and/or high levels of sexual activity is hyper sexuality and sexual addiction or compulsivity. The significant features of these disorders are that sexual activity is an insatiable need, often interfering with everyday functioning; sex being impersonal, with no emotional intimacy; and despite frequent orgasms, sexual activity is not generally satisfying. The label of nymphomania is used in a derogatory manner, exclusively in reference to women. To many men, the idea of a woman with a greater sex drive than their own is something to be threatened about, so they may use the label to keep their own egos up by proving that the woman is abnormal. Usually men with sexual dysfunction might accuse their partners of being oversexed in an effort to hide their own fears or sense of inadequacy, just as women who sometimes object to the frequency of their partner's sexual advances might accuse him of being oversexed. The difference is in the double standard that exists in our society that congratulates a man who is highly sexed and has many partners, calling him a "stud", whereas a woman with the same behavior is often labeled as a "nympho", which carries a negative connotation. The exact cause of nymphomania is unknown. According researches, the possible causes of nymphomania include: Hormone levels – Androgen is a sexual hormone that is produced both in men and women. These hormones play a vital role in sexual desire. Levels of these hormones might vary in individuals. Brain abnormalities – Conditions like epilepsy, multiple sclerosis and dementia all have been associated with nymphomania depending on the part of the brain being affected. Natural brain chemicals – Naturally produced chemicals in the brain like dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine play an important role in sexual functioning and thus variations in its levels may cause nymphomania. All of us know that sexual expressions are a natural part of your life. An overwhelming urge for sex and intensely preoccupying with that affects your job, health, relationships and other areas is when it needs to be taken care off. A high sex drive could lead to problems like: · Participating in intercourse with more than one partner or extra marital affairs · Employing in excessive masturbations
Nymphomaniacs often use sex as an escape from problems like anxiety, depression, loneliness and stress. It can affect anyone despite of sexual preferences, along with homosexual, heterosexual and bisexual preferences. Treatment A vast range of methods has been used to treat frigidity, ranging from group or individual desensitization to hormonal treatment. Psychiatric treatment which aims to release early unpleasant experiences from the psyche in order to overcome the psychological causes of frigidity is also used though it is time-consuming. HSDD (hypoactive sexual desire disorder) like a lot of sexual dysfunctions is something that people are treated for in the context of relationships. It is common for both partners to be involved in therapy. The therapist tries to find a psychological or biological cause of the HSDD which is sometimes possible and sometimes not. If the HSDD is organically caused, the clinicians try to deal with that. If the clinician believes it is has a psychological root cause, then they may recommend therapy for that. Treatment mostly focuses more on relationship and communication issues-—improved communication (verbal and nonverbal), working on lost sexual intimacy, or education about sexuality may all be possible parts of treatment. Sometimes problems occur because people have unrealistic views on what normal sexuality is and are concerned that they do not compare well to that. This is one reason why sex education is important. If the clinician thinks that part of the problem is a result of stress, methods may be recommended to effectively deal with that. It is important to understand why the low level of sexual desire is a problem for the relationship as both partners may associate different meaning with sex but not know it. In the case of men, the therapy may depend on the type of HSDD. Increasing the level of sexual desire of a man with lifelong/generalized HSDD is unlikely. Instead the focus might be more on helping the couple to adapt. In the case of acquired or generalized, it is possible that there is some biological reason for it and the clinician may attempt to deal with that. In the case of acquired or situational, psychotherapy may be used, possibly with the man alone or together with his partner. In the case of hyper sexuality the individual definitely needs to consult a professional and take medication, as it does not have a psychological cause for it. Pharmacotherapy along with psychotherapy would be helpful though, as first the compulsive thoughts of sex need to be controlled and then for the irrational thoughts and behavior change can be brought about by psychological therapies like cognitive-behavior therapy which seems to work well along with the medication given. |
